As we mentioned in the previous article, organizing a
self-made photoshoot can be pretty stressful and tricky. There are a lot of
things to take into consideration – from setting the camera, operating the
gadgets, thinking about the right poses, setting up the background and sorting
the outfits.
That’s why we want to help you with some suggestions, in
order to make your shooting day easier and more fun and the results perfect.
Posing Tips and Tricks
1. Do not look straight into the camera, instead try tilting your head down and look up toward the camera. Also avoid putting your full body in the frame! Tilt your hip and shift around in order to angle and slim your body.
2. Avoid red eyes by looking into a light right before taking a photo. Also, make your eyes look brighter by using a couple of drops of artificial tears.
3. If you want to take a photo of yourself in front of the mirror, place your camera or smartphone at shoulder level and twist your body toward it, while you push the opposite shoulder toward the camera.
4. Avoid smiling too wide by placing your tongue behind your teeth when you smile for a photo.
5. The “Red Carpet Pose” is always a winning solution: your hand must be on your hip, your body angled to the side and your head turned towards the camera.
6. Try not to always place yourself in the middle of the picture. Instead, place yourself off-center so that the picture can look more interesting. It is known as the rule of thirds, where you fall in the 2/3 of the frame. Also, try creating a scenery so that the photo can be more interesting. In simpler words, try getting other things into the shot and start using props.
7. If you want an outdoor photoshoot avoid the middle of the day because the sun will emphasize every tiny imperfection on your face or body. The best time to take photos is in the morning or around sunset, because of the soft, warm light.
8. You don’t always have to have your full body in the picture or your face in the frame. Try creating artistic photos that can excite your client’s imagination.
9. Avoid the double chin by elongating your neck, pushing your face slightly forward and tipping the chin down.
10. Make sure that your make-up is flawless. Wear mascara and bright lipstick, because the dark, matte lipstick is unflattering and you risk aging yourself. Always use blush in order to shape your face and color your cheeks and your eyebrows to accentuate your features.
If you find it difficult to focus during your photoshoot, place an object in front of you and focus on that object.
For some girls it helps to see themselves into the mirror
when taking a photo, in order to be able to adjust their pose. So, you can do
just that! Use a big mirror, place it in front of you, place the camera on a
tripod and set up the timer high and place yourself into a position that is
sexy, sensual, alluring and enticing. With the help of the mirror you will know
exactly what type of pose best suits you.
We hope we were helpful with our advice and always keep in mind that we are here for you with suggestions. As you can see you can do wonders with a small budget. You only need inspiration and the proper tools!
